But thats been cancelled too!
Again starting with double FIS points, so had bib 97, but ended up in 22nd place..so was pleased with that. Points were mucked up but was skiing in high 70s in GS so pleased with how I skiied on the 15th. On the 16th it wasnt so good...back to my old way of skiing..but it takes time for improvements in skiing technique to become your permanent style! |
| Skiied St. Lambrecht (AUT) with double my FIS points...a computer error..which meant I started at the back on a course of artifical snow, grass and mud....180th male down a course after 70 girls had gone down same slope. So it wasnt pretty! DNF on both GS and SL.... |
Night slalom last night. Went really well on 1st run. My time would have given me points in the 70s, and I was fastest GBR..but 2nd run my ski came off on the 5th gate from the finish...gutted....but thats skiing for you! Main thing is that Im pleased with how Im skiing. Slalom is my favourite at mo. So a late night..didnt get to bed until midnight then GS today!

Went back to the UK for Christmas..it was good to see all the family. Flew back to Austria on the 29th..but couldnt land at Salzburg as there was only 100m visibility due to fog..so got diverted to Linz..didnt get to Lofer until 2am!
We've been free skiing GS and SL since we got back.
Happy New Year to everyone!
Had a good week in Kaprun. Now back in Lofer and about to go to gym in a local school to play volleyball and do some stretching exercises.
Its been difficult to find any races around here as most have been cancelled or postponed. We are hoping to go to :
| 1579 | Hoch-Ybrig | SUI | Giant Slalom | M | FIS | |||

It would be good to get some races in before we come home on Saturday for Xmas.
And I had my 18th birthday on Thursday!
Couldnt ski on Friday as lifts closed due to 120km/hr winds! Back to Lofer at the weekend. You can check out Lofer here: http://www.olympics.org.uk/otc/home.aspx

Now back to Kaprun with slalom training tomorrow. Lots more snow here now.
Went back to Lofer on Friday night and then left from there yesterday afternoon to travel to Stubai. Good conditions here and all going well.
We've had powder and soft snow here in Pitztal so it hasnt been ideal for speed training. One day we had GS gates...but manged for first time yesterday to have SG gates. Maybe off on Sunday to Stubai as snow is meant to be better there. Having a great time!
Back in Lofer, with cycling tests today. Field tests tommorow and then we leave for Kaunertal for the Speed training camp (Downhill). Then we stay there until the 13th when we go off to Pitztal.
Ive got my new Fischer skis! Very nice so I've been waxing those up today!
This is the view from the start hut for the Kitzbuhel Downhill...which we hiked up rather than skied down...for a change! We started off at the houses seen in the right hand top corner, and it took an hour! Its been busy over the weekend so 530am starts as we can only have gates up until 10am. Looking forward to my lie in tomorrow...with a 630am start!
Playing lots of basketball after skiing, and then exercises focusing on core and strength work.
Video analysis every night, with dartfish technology so it overlays two people skiing down the course so you can compare times vs techniques....really useful.
Been doing slalom and giant slalom....the GS has been awesome! Really pleased with my skiing.
Another day of slalom training today. Busy on the slopes as its the weekend.
Spending 5-6 hours per day on the slopes, leaving at 7am and back at 3. Then game of basketball followed by stretches and core. Then tea then video analysis and ski prep...then bed!
Enjoying my stiffer Fischer boots. Already seeing an improvement. One day of GS followed by two of SL. All going well....but very very cold up on the mountain!
Thanks to the Citizen, my local paper, for the article today....you can read this in the media section.
Arrived last night at Salzburg, Austria. Spent the night at Lofer and then left early this morning for an 11 hour minibus ride to Saas Fee. GS tomorrow
I have just returned from my first Club National race in 2years. I finished 2nd in JN2 and 3rd overall. So not bad
The day was great fun with Gloucester Ski Club returning with 10 medals. Bring on the other races
I have recently been selected again for the English Alpine Team for my 3rd season and been given a trial for the British Home Nations Team for next season
It feels great to be back racing and training at last !
I have just got back from training with the English Alpine Ski Team in Meribel,France. Training went really well and I am looking forward to the summer training now! Now I am off to Norway for some final winter season snow...can't wait!!

I would like to thank the Rotary Club and SportsAid Southwest for the cheque of £250.The money has gone towards a Jacket,Helmet and Leg Guards. This money is much appreciated I need all the support I can get as skiing is a very expensive sport.
Thank you again to :
and
Had slalom on Friday..didnt ski anywhere near my best. Pretty disappointed but at least I got a finish. It was a tough race.
Some good and bad news...bad news I had a bad fall today in training....had to be bought down the mountain in a blood wagon...saw the Doctor..have injured my knee..poss tendon....have a knee brace and have to see the physio tomorrow morning. Can't ski but hope the rest will improve things.
Had been planning to ski at Sestriere on the 1st and 2nd....not sure if I'll be able to. But the good news is it could have been worse.....!
Looking forward to my Mum, Dad, Sister, Grandad, Aunty and Cousin coming out this weekend.
Super G cancelled today. GS tomorrow...hopefully.
Now have new helmet...thanks to www.skiracing.co.uk
May go to races in France or Italy next week.
DNF the DH yesterday. Couldnt flex my boots due to the bruises from the crash the day before.
Super G was meant to be today, but they're put it off due to the soft snow.
PSV is cancelled so dont know what we're doing now.
Les Carroz races at the weekend, both night races. French Junior Championships...tough field.
GS last night. First run OK. Second run spot on, very fast, but went into banana gate too straight and ended up having to ride the rut and hit some soft stuff...so lost some time. Points 128.46 so not too good...penalty high.
SL on Sat...didnt ski too bad, able to regain some of my confidence lost when my skis came off in my last 3 GS races (now have bindings sorted so that wont be happening again!). Got late on my first run and lost about .5sec on the flat. 2nd run, just gave it my best, and had the odd mistake. Points 118.76, so not my best but OK considering penalty.
Day off today and then training for the rest of the week., My next race is my first Downhill !!! in Meribel on the Olympic Slope !
Been back home for a couple of weeks. Nice to catch up on some sleep. Off again on Thursday to France. Doing the Les Carroz races, then a weeks training before the British Seniors. Now have my first pair of downhill skis ! We will have 2 daays of practise and then my first downhill.
Had a fantastic time at the Youth Olympics. I've set up a new page with some photos.
Back yesterday, then off on Thursday to Italy for a weekend skiing with 52 people from Gloucester Ski Club.
Filmed by Central TV tonight at the slope. It should go out on Tuesday..but worth watching on Monday just in case.
Will be in the Western Daily Press tomorrow (Friday).
Off tomorrow at lunchtime, staying the night at the Meriden, Gatwick and then flying on Saturday !
I was on BBC Points West tonight !!
Interviewed at Gloucester Ski Centre, and filmed skiing!
Slalom today in Oppdal, Norway. Really tough course. Came off the track on the first run, hitting some powder, but scored my best points ever of 92 !
Trondheim Races; Right by the sea so wet snow here with rain ! Been leaving Oppdal at 530am to make the 2 hour journey. Yesterday's race, OK first run, then second one got late on the steep so lost speed to carry through on flat. But still got reasonable points of 110.
Today, had a good first. Then on second I took off over the ridge, skis crossed and smashed into the gate, ripping the flag! Luckily no injury.
But skiing really well so I'm pleased with progress.
2 SLs in Oppdal. Then home !!
Things have been going very well here in Norway. I've been racing well and have made points, with points below 100 for both GS and SL.

Had a great slalom FIS race on Saturday and skied to 99 points, my best yet! I was the second Brit of all age groups!....Not so good today cos I didn't finish the first run, the coaches said the top section was good though.
Mum arrived today to be house Mum for two weeks. Look forward to breakfasts now !! Got nervous when she drove the van down the mountain!!
Time trials yesterday and today. I was the fastest out of the 88s and 89s English and Scottish !
The quota has been extended for the FIS race tomorrow so I get to race....yay.
My 16th Birthday today !
Now in Oppdal, very windy today. Staying in Vangslia apartments...very nice.
Get up at 830, have a run and then lifts open at 10am. Training on a piste alongside the Scottish team. Getting dark at 230pm!
Training going well, pleased with the way I'm skiing.
Two night races in Geilo..so I was racing when normally I'd be asleep!
Thursdays one I got the speed on the first but made some costly mistakes. The second was OK but got caught on the bumps. Points only 165. Then today had an excellant first run..Bode style ! and then the second I was good on the top, but lost some time on the steep, points 155.
Off tomorrow to Oslo to take car back. Then up to Oppdal on the train.
Now in Geilo. Staying in a shed..well they call it a log cabin !
First day in my new Nordica boots..excellant.
Thursday and Friday we have two FIS GS races..poss at night.
Then its back to Oslo, and then up to Oppdal.
I've been interviewed by the Citizen newspaper this morning with photographer..out tomorrow !
Had my letter inviting me to attend the qualifying timetrials for the 2005 European Youth Olympics in Monthey, Switzerland. The selection will be made 22/23 Dec.
Fly on Tuesday to Norway....have to be at Heathrow 0545am!
GS race on Wednesday...had a good first run, but on the second impacted on a crevasse ridge and lost both skis! Fell on the binding and broke the ski brake....now have a numb bum !
Val Thorens CIT races cancelled so coming home early...today !
High winds...lift closed...crevasses on race run..so race cancelled.
Hope its better tomorrow.
Lifts closed yesterday and then on and off today..so spent today hanging around waiting. Got only 9 runs in.
GS tomorrow. I'm 121 out of 186 males ! Looking forward to it, going to use it as a warm up.
I m of snow yesterday ! Races have been changed to GS and the male races are now earlier, on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Stll having a great time out here !
Training is going really well. I've seen Ian Blair (Gloucester Coach) who's here doing his BASI. Played volleyball yesterday for fitness.
The Val Thorens Super G races were cancelled. So now we just have the races here in Tignes 24 & 25.11 for Males and then onto Val Thorens for 28 & 29.11.
Minus 17 today..freezing cold.
Skiing really well, I love all my new equipment. Getting up at 620am and going on 5km run.
Now in Tignes, France with the Alpine Race Centre. First day on new skis....they feel great...wider than last year's. Should be good !
Out here to do some training and then hopefully race in the Val Thorens and Tignes FIS races.
Interviewed last Thursday for the BBC Radio again, they're including my news and results on their sports bulletins! Emma Cook (great interviewer) wants me to do a TV slot when I get home!
